Back from vacation! And I come bearing MAC Petticoat MSF
Hi lovelies! I am back from my week-long vacation to Florida and I’m happy to say I had a great time! I know some people go to Florida during the Holiday season because it’s warmer there, but personally I was freezing because I’m just not used to anything below 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and at night it went as low as 37F. I saw a girl who was asked why she was wearing shorts and she answered “I’m from Canada!” Yeah well. I guess I won’t be going to Canada any time soon.
Since I live in a place where it’s HOT (average around 85F) all year long, being in the “cold” made my skin behave unexpectedly. Really, all my life my skin has been super oily, and after a couple days of “cold” weather, it actually started drying. And I wasn’t just getting dry patches; my whole face became dry and started peeling! Good thing I had with me my Nivea creme (the one in the blue tin). This creme is usually way to heavy for my face but it was a life saver last week when my skin started peeling. After two days I switched to Nivea soft (the one in the white container) because it’s considerably lighter on skin (I didn’t want to break out either!).
Here’s a picture of my two travel-sized Nivea cremes. As you can see my dog punched a hole through the lid of the blue tin. She did this while it was new, and this wasn’t the one I took on the plane with me because I was afraid it was going to spill through the hole, I actually bought a new blue tin of creme before I left for vacation, but took a picture of the old one because I have no idea where I put the new one.
Among all the places I visited last week I went to The Florida Mall, which I was told is a “tourist mall”, but I have a no idea what a tourist mall looks like so I can’t really tell you if that’s true. The thing is I went the M.A.C. store (DUH!) last Monday and after looking around for a while I saw they had Mineralize Skinfinish in Petticoat! I grabbed it and bought it without thinking about it much. I love how this MSF looks in swatches online and I thought I was never going to be able to get my hands on it at this time because it’s limited edition and not widely available anymore, unless you get it on ebay or something for a higher price.
So if you live near Orlando, and want to get your hands on this beautiful MSF, you might still find it in-store at The Florida Mall. I’ve never done it but I’ve read you can call them and order from them. They had a lot of Petticoat MSFs when I was there last week, so there are probably some left still! They also had Cheeky Bronze but I already have that one, and aside from the MSF naturals, I didn’t find any other MSF there.
Here are some pictures! I clean t every time I use it but somehow it manages to be all dusty. Click pictures to enlarge them.
After taking Petticoat home I found that I actually didn’t love it so much as I thought I would. The color is gorgeous but it’s not so great on my skin tone unless it is very, very well buffed in. It’s very metallic and I’m C35/NC35 so it shows up as white more than as pink unless I take a harsh (not a soft!) kabuki and really blend it in. However, I found that it makes a beautiful eyeshadow, so I wear it as a lid color and it just looks so pretty! Overall I’m happy I got this MSF and I don’t regret getting it at all, but I have the feeling I will be using it more as an eyeshadow than as a blusher. My mom (an NC45) loves to use it as a lid color too, and it looks gorgeous on her.
Oh and I almost forgot, I also got as little set of brushes from ecotools that I had wanted to try for some time now. The little set comes with a baby kabuki brush, a blush brush, a concealer brush, an eyeshadow brush and a cute little pouch to put them in. I haven’t used the brushes much yet, all I’ve noticed is that they’re really soft. I will probably review them later after using them for a while.
Well, this post is getting long enough so I will leave it here. Tomorrow my family and I are having a small New Year’s Eve celebration and I’m going to look for inspiration for my look tomorrow night. If you have any comments or suggestions please leave them in a comment below! Hugs and kisses to you all and happy new year!
